100th Anniversary 2014 Panama Canal Medal

Photographic proof that the medals crossed the canal on December 10, 2014. Mike and Jeff hold two medals showing the reverse and the obverse as we exit the Gatun Locks. In the first image, the control house at the Gatun Locks notes the 1914 to 2014 anniversary dates of the first crossing of the Ancon. My pocket piece shows the beginnings of toning and gathered a few finger prints as people admired the medal on the cruise. edited by bill on 12/17/2014

If you haven't seen this, you should consider talking with Jeff about buying one.... http://www.coinbooks.org/esylum_v17n45a19.html

The medals look great and we had such a great time taking them through the canal! We had a small hangup with customs getting on the ship with the medals but it all worked out in the end.

The prior set that sold was without the original cases; this R-9 set sold for a very hefty sum in the April 2017 Holabird Auction. Not sure where the other sets might be.
