Unlisted Gettysburg Medal

Here is the reverse

He is an even earlier Gettysburg Encampment Medal from 1885 that I just received.

GAR medals are very cool, and I am not aware of a standard reference for them, but they will NOT be included in the next edition of So-Called Dollars. I am trying to decide if all of the properly sized Washington medals in the Baker Book should be included in the next edition of the So-called Dollar book. Comments anyone?

Twenty four years after the Battle of Gettysburg, survivors of Pickett's Division came together in early July with those from the Philadelphia Brigade....one of the opposing Union Army forces that defended "The Angle" on Cemetery Ridge on July 3, 1863 against the forces of Pickett's Charge. This Reunion at Gettysburg in 1887 is claimed to be "the first reunion of the Blue and the Gray...that took place on any battlefield of the War of the Rebellion" and was attended by more than 300 ex-Confederates and "more than that number of survivors of the Philadelphia Brigade." (from John W. Frazier's official report) Pictured here is my latest find. An extremely rare medal from that very reunion. I'm not sure if it would qualify as a So-Called Dollar but it will certainly reside permanently in my collection. 34mm diameter white metal. edited by Civil War Collector on 8/29/2017

The GAR medal is very cool, and certainly belongs is a great collection. it is not however a So-Called Dollar. GAR medals, as well as medals from masonic organizations are not considered SCD's.
