PPIE Unlisted State Fund Exonumia Thread

I've noticed a few numismatic items over the past few years related to the "State Fund" SCDs of the PPIE that I thought i'd post. I've often wondered if there are actually any undiscovered PPIE State Fund So-Called dollars outside of the listed 2nd ed of the book (ie. HK-402 to HK-413). Perhaps one day we will find one. In any event, here is a die trial piece for a Wisconsin State Fund Dollar I saw last year.

Here is a smaller medal on a pinback for South Dakota. It apparently measures about 26mm and has "The Chas. Robbins Co. Attelboro" on the back. This company appeared to have made HK-404, HK-408, HK-410, HK-410b, & HK-413 while many of the others were made by Whitehead & Hoag Co of Newark NJ.

While this isn't a so-called dollar, it's a 2.5" x 1.5" badge related to Nevada and the PPIE. Per Fred Holabird, this was made by Frank Golden (1862-1911) who came from Ireland in 1880 and ran a jewelry business in Virginia City. The business later moved to Reno, NV. Elsewhere on this site is a nice award medal that Jeff posted giving award to the State of Nevada at the PPIE as well.

As an addition, I wanted to alert everyone that Dan Carr is selling 100th anniversary medals for the PPIE. They are really quite nice. I bought a set as I love the PPIE series. His website is: http://www.dc-coin.com

This unlisted piece may be unique.... does anyone have another?

I was at a recent coin meeting in San Francisco, and an interesting point was made about HK-419... that it is perhaps an unlisted Nebraska State So-Called Dollar. The "Baroque" shield is actually the state shield of Nebraska, so one could actually view HK-419 as a SCD representing the state of Nebraska. I would think this SCD is likely from a "Nebraska Day" celebration day at the PPIE as opposed to being an actual "state fund" SCD, but in either event, it's good to know this information.

That is cool. Is it yours?

The HK-425A is mine.  I've seen another now... in a national auction... this piece will be SH 18-33 in the upcoming West Coast Expo Book

Hello ! Glad to see you have the HK425A Slug. As you know I collected the Slug Facsimiles for 20 + years and listed it in my Reference Guide as HK425A. I reviewed the Slug with Mike Locke and Brian Silliman at NGC. The reverse is HK425, the obverse with Columbia walking thru the Panama Canal is the only one I had ever seen. It is one of several PP Slugs missing from the HK listing. Take care ! .. tj edited by AOEDAD on 11/25/2015
