This So-Called Dollar could be cataloged with one word “Wow”. Graded by PCGS, who does not yet have a published Population Report for So-called Dollars, if this were graded by NGC, it would be the second finest with one finer in MS 66. A superb Gem, majestic surfaces, a wonderful example. Stacks Bowers sold a lower grade NGC 64+ for $1,320 11/2019. This medal commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the departure of the Continental Army from Valley Forge. Authorized by Congress, designed and engraved by William Barber and struck in SILVER in 1880 at the Philadelphia Mint. Obverse features the bust of George Washington. This is one of the “Three Kings” of silver so-called dollars along with the Grant HK 12A and the Roosevelt HK 308.
