Bright white with proof-like surfaces, probably originally struck as a proof. Engraved by George Morgan, and not listed in Julian’s book of U.S. Mint medals, which causes this medal to be a somewhat unknown sleeper. Obverse scene depicts massacre by Indians with tomahawks attacking settlers. Reverse features a monument. Struck in white metal.
