SOLD: HK-144B 1885 Industrial Cotton Exposition Liberty Bell Loaned SCD

NGC AU 55 Jeff Shevlin Collection

Reference HK-144B
Date 1885
Grade AU 55
Price $275.00
Item # 3104
Metal White Metal

Fairly scarce with only 11 certified by NGC. The obverse design of the Liberty Bell is similar to Key’s Liberty Bell designs from the 1876 Centennial Exposition, but they are not the same and are of somewhat lower quality, not likely engraved by Key. The U.S. Mint had an exhibit at the exposition, and the authors believe this was likely a U.S. Mint engraved product struck at the exposition. Reverse legend commemorates the loaning of the Liberty Bell from the City of Philadelphia to the Exposition of New Orleans in 1885. Struck in White Metal, unsigned.
