Metal Bronze

Graded NGC 65, a real gem. Although called bronze by the U.S. Mint, there are two similar but different planchets that were used to strike these. The majority of the medals have a yellow brass look, but others have a slightly reddish amber look, as does this example. One of the medals listed in the new book to be released in early 2022 “So Called Dollars from the Pacific Coast Expositions”. The Obverse features a stylistic view of the cosmos with the Space Needle and official logo in the foreground. Around the perimeter above” “CENTURY 21 EXPOSITION,” and along the bottom perimeter “SEATTLE WASHINGTON USA”, dated 1962 below. Reverse also features a stylistic view of the cosmos. Along the perimeter, “UNITED STATES COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL SPACE AGE WORLD’S FAIR”. Struck in bronze.
