The third in a series of eight medals with a large bust of Washington, engraved and issued by George Hampden Lovett to commemorate the Revolutionary Battles of 1776. Also known as the Battle of Brooklyn Heights, it was the first major battle in the American Revolutionary War and the first engagement of an army of the new United States, having declared itself a nation only a month before.
