In the arms of Lady America, Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark sight the Pacific Ocean at the western termination of their Northwest Exposition. Westward the course of the empire takes its way. On the reverse is a topographical map of the American West showing the states, major cities and shipping routes from Seattle, Portland and San Francisco. Designed by George T. Morgan and struck in the U.S. Mint Exhibit at the Exposition.
