One of only three certified by NGC. A compelling example of Dickeson’s Beaver gnawing on a tree Perseverando SCD. Fully reflective fields add pop to this elusive medal. Professor Montroville Dickeson had these struck by Robert Lovett Jr. at the outbreak of the Civil War, most likely in 1861. The obverse features the Perseverando vignette that was used on the $6 bills issued by the Continental Congress of 1775-1778. His set of four different obverse medal designs supported the government issuing Legal tender notes to underwrite the defense of the Union.
