Bill Hyder my co-author and I flew together to the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Coin Show in Oklahoma City held in late August 2025. It was an amazing show. It really is in the best interests of the hobby for the ANA to rotate their two annual coin shows throughout the U.S. When they do, it energizes the local numismatic community to work together to put on the best show they can. It also brings to the show hundreds of local coin dealers and thousands of local collectors so the major dealers that attend all of the shows get exposure to other dealers and new customers.
Ron Gillio stopped by to say hi and congratulate Bill for receiving the ANA president’s Award from Tom Uram. Quite a few of the So-Called Dollar Fellowship Gathering members attended the show and were hanging out at my booth along with good friends Fred Holabird and author David Schenkman. As I said, the show was amazing, certainly one of the best. It proves that you don’t have to have a show in a major city to have an amazing show.
My new friend and author Steve Starlust received an award from the Numismatic Literary Guild for his book on the Columbian Exposition, a great reference book with hundreds of photos that will supplant the previous standard reference book by Eglit.
