This is a die trail striking. When setting up the dies to start striking medals, die trails with less pressure are struck before the press is adjusted to the proper pressure for striking. They appear to be low grade worn examples, but they are strictly uncirculated with no signs of wear. I have seen a few of these for this medal. Struck in bronze. Official Medal from the 1907 Jamestown Tercentennial Exposition held in Norfolk, Virginia. Obverse features the female Indian bust of Pocahontas, the reverse features the ship of Captain John Smith. Bronze. Engraved by George Morgan and struck at the U.S. Mint Exhibit on the exposition grounds.
