This is the much scarcer COPPER variety of the official medal struck for the Pan-American Exposition held in Buffalo, New York. Nice reddish copper color. To date only seven in copper have been certified by NGC. Obverse features a standing heroic male atop a flying eagle. On the reverse is a relief map of the western hemisphere. Designed by George Thomas Brewster, dies engraved by the U.S. Mint and struck and sold at the U.S. Mint exhibit. Obverse die signed lower left. Originally cataloged as struck in silver, copper, and brass. Stuck in copper.
