Near TOP POP. Two graded finer in 65. “Plate coin” as photographed in the book SCD Volume 1: U.S. Expositions. This is the “Type 1” variety with Three Cultivated Rows on the reverse, it is signed by Childs on the obverse and it has the OA signature on the shoulder truncation. Three different obverse dies and three different reverse dies were used to strike the four different varieties of the McCormick Reaper. All were engraved by Childs, some are signed OA on the shoulder truncation for Oscar Altstein, an engraver for Childs. Type 1 SH 6-11 is signed by Childs and OA and has Three Cultivated Rows on the reverse. Type 2 SH 6-11.1 is not signed by Childs but is signed OA and has Two Cultivated Rows on the reverse. Type 3 SH 6-11.2 is not signed by Childs or OA and has Four Cultivated Rows on the reverse. Type 4 SH 6-11.3 has Five Cultivated Rows on the reverse.
