This is the plate coin as photographed in the book “So-Called Dollars from the Pacific Coast expositions.” This is an exceptionally rare Gold-Plated variety, as listed in the book “So-Called Dollars Volume I: U.S. Expositions.” L.H. Moise, a minter in San Francisco, struck this version of the official medal. Moise reused the obverse die to strike a number of additional medals celebrating events in California.
