TOP POP, finest of only six certified. Engraved by George B. Soley who was a diesinker and worked at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia from 1859 until his death in 1908. Both Soley’s Washington Large Bust and his Seated Liberty design are found paired with about a half dozen other dies engraved by Soley for the Centennial Exposition. The Seated Liberty design with Liberty sitting on a keystone symbolizes the strength of America and our “keystone” principals of justice and rightness are represented by the square and the scales on the keystone. This variety was absent from the Baker collection which was sold by Stacks Bowers November 2019.
