Near TOP POP, seven certified by NGC and only one finer. John C. Heenan, the “Benicia Boy” won the first clear claim to the American heavyweight title. This was struck to commemorate the famous 1860 bare-knuckle World Championship Heavyweight fight with England’s champion Tom Sayers. The match lasted over two hours and ended in a 42-round draw.
