I don’t know what the PCGS population report says for this medal, but the finest graded by NGC is a 66. This is designated by PCGS as a Specimen Striking, indicating a special significance. Medal commemorates the completion of the first transcontinental railroad. Authorized by Congress and designed and engraved by William Barber. Obverse features the bust of U.S. Grant and states “The Oceans United by Railway”. The reverse depicts a mountain scene with a train. Struck in Bronze.
