Absolutely spectacular. The photos do not do this piece justice. Much nicer in hand that the photos indicate. Graded by PCGS as SP 62, Specimen Grade indicating a special striking, like a proof. Rare silver variety, one of the “Three Kings” of silver SCD’s. Stacks sold an Specimen PCGS 64 for $17,400 in 2022. Medal commemorates the completion of the first transcontinental railroad. Authorized by Congress and designed and engraved by William Barber and struck by the U.S. Mint. Obverse features the bust of U.S. Grant and states “The Oceans United by Railway”. The reverse depicts a mountain scene with a train.
