Engraved by George Morgan in 1878, the same year that he engraved the Morgan dollar. Not listed in Julian’s book of U.S. Mint medals, which causes this medal to be somewhat of an unknown sleeper. Obverse scene depicts a massacre by Indians with tomahawks attacking settlers. Reverse features a monument. Struck in white metal.
