Metal | White Metal |
This white metal example is rare not holed, as most are found holed. Engraved by George Morgan in 1878, the same year that he engraved the Morgan dollar. Not listed in Julian’s book of U.S. Mint medals, which causes this medal to be somewhat of an unknown sleeper. Obverse scene depicts settlers being attacked by Indians with tomahawks. Reverse features a monument. Struck in white metal.
