This example does not have initials punched into the reverse above the globe as most examples do. Struck on an unusually thick planchet. These so-called dollars were sold in the Negro Building at the exposition and almost all of them have initials punched into them, almost certainly done at the exposition, as made. The obverse shows black laborers picking cotton with the engraver’s signature, ALF. VESTER., PROV. RI., along the base of the design. The reverse includes a globe design found on other souvenirs along with the exposition inscription.
