Near TOP POP. Only one graded finer and five certified. “PLATE COIN” as photographed in the book SCD’s Volume 1. Columbus facing left combined with a sharply rimmed blank reverse. A different variety of this piece is seen as the top lid of a coin box made to look like a stack of coins with reeded edges; some are solid and some are hollow. In this later case the reverse is seen as the incuse of the obverse. This is the “Christopher” English version. See SH 6-82 for the Latin variety.
