Near TOP POP. One graded finer in 66. 28 certified. “PLATE COIN” as photographed in the book SCD’s Volume 1. The obverse portrait of Columbus is surrounded by a border of shields. On the reverse is a boat landing scene. The dies are unsigned but are possibly the final works of George Hampden Lovett. Often found struck from clashed dies, noticeably on the reverse, with Columbus’s eyes peering out of the field.
