This is the rarer and larger 40mm White Metal variety SH 6-30.1 WM, struck with a reeded edge and has coin orientation. A multiple theme medal showing the signing of the Declaration of Independence on the obverse and landing scenes of Columbus and the Pilgrims on the reverse, Signed R.L. to the right of the pilgrim landing scene, engraved by Rudolph Laubenheimer. Varieties are struck in 37mm and 40mm sizes.
