Struck in STERLING SILVER, this mechanical box dollar opens up reveal a central cavity. This one is engraved in the center “M.P.H. Oct. 2, 1893.”. One of five different Box Dollars from the Columbian Exposition. Placing finger pressure at the top of the reverse will cause the bottom reverse to pop open to reveal a small round picture frame inside. Marked STERLING on the interior. It is possible that it also exists as a solid medal. Not signed and the engraver is unknown. Eglit #92.
