For Sale: 1893 Columbian Columbus Three-Quarter Right Box Dollar SCD

This is the “Plate Coin” in So-called Dollars Volume I. Struck in STERLING SILVER, this mechanical box dollar opens up reveal a central cavity. I have opened this piece before, but am unable to open it to photograph it for this listing. I have a friend with stronger fingers than me and I will ask him to open it for me the time I see him. One of five different Box Dollars from the Columbian Exposition. Placing finger pressure at the top of the reverse will cause the bottom reverse to pop open to reveal a small round picture frame inside. Marked STERLING on the interior. Not signed and the engraver is unknown.
