Small Letter variety of the Official U.S. Mint souvenir medal minted on the fairgrounds. Two different obverse dies, Lower Flag and Higher Flag, were used to strike the Small Letter variety. Those dies did not cross over between the Large and Small Letter varieties. Both Small Letter obverse die varieties have two pearls. The Higher Flag die variety is likely a later used die as the gold-plated is only known struck with that die. The Lower Flag die is found with a die crack at 12:00, which may be why it was replaced with the Higher Flag die.
