This is the Two Pearl, Large Letter variety of the Official U.S. Mint souvenir medal minted on the fairgrounds. Engraved by George Morgan, his signature “M” is below the edifice to the far right. The most common variety is gold-plated, incorrectly referred to as brass. Originally struck in oreide which toned unattractively, it was replaced with the gold-plated variety. Two obverse die varieties exist. The One Pearl die variety is likely an early used die. There are other known minor die varieties. Struck in Gold-Plated Brass.
