This is an early striking in Oreide, before the composition was changed to gold-plated. Previously sold in the 1980’s by Paul L. Koppenhaver, his original envelope is included with the sale. Official Medal from the 1893 Columbian Exposition held in Chicago, Illinois. Type II small letter obverse variety features the U.S. Government Building. Engraved by George Morgan and struck by the U.S. Mint.
