The Lauer series of medals struck for the Columbian Exposition consists of 21 different die combinations, most of which were struck in several different metal compositions. The Lauer medals are a challenge to complete by type, let alone to complete by type, variety, and composition. This variety was struck with two different obverse dies, “Obverse Die 1” and “Obverse Die 2”. This is SH 6-92.1, struck with the “Obverse Die 2” variety.
