For Sale: HK-242 1893 Columbian McCormick Reaper “Type 3” SCD

This is the “Type 3” variety with Four Cultivated Rows on the reverse and it is not signed by Childs or OA. Three different obverse dies and three different reverse dies were used to strike the three different varieties of the McCormick Reaper. All were engraved by Childs, some are signed OA on the shoulder truncation for Oscar Altstein, an engraver for Childs. Type 1 SH 6-11 is signed by Childs and OA and has Three Cultivated Rows on the reverse. Type 2 SH 6-11.1 is not signed by Childs but is signed OA and has Two Cultivated Rows on the reverse. Type 3 SH 6-11.2 is not signed by Childs or OA and has Four Cultivated Rows on the reverse. Type 4 SH 6-11.3 has Five Cultivated Rows on the reverse.
