Near TOP POP, only three certified, and only one finer. Previously sold by Bowers & Merina on September 9, 1986. The obverse depicts the Cotton Palace from the exposition. The reverse die was created using William H. Key’s Liberty Bell punch or hub from the Centennial Exposition, but Key passed away in 1900, a year before the exposition. Philadelphia medalist William H. Warner acquired many of Key’s dies and he struck and sold this medal. Previously cataloged as copper but Warner sold bronze proofs for 25c and white metal for 15c.
