The obverse has a steel horseshoe, made from metal from the Battleship Maine as seen with SH 11-6. There are two different die varieties; a narrow and a wide W.C. GIBSON. On the wide variety the name is wider than the three lines of text below. On the narrow variety, it is narrower. This is a narrow variety. The Battleship Maine die is known struck with several other dies not related to the exposition, like this store card. The reverse features an owl.
