This lot includes the original red leather case of issue. Newley discovered research identifies that the Wells Fargo 50th anniversary medal was designed by John J Valentine Sr, president of Wells Fargo in 1901. They were struck by San Francisco Jeweler Shreeve & Co. A very popular medal struck in silver and given by the Wells Fargo Company in 1902 to each employee that had been employed for at least one year.
