Gold-Plated. Official Medal from the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition held in St. Louis, Missouri. The design depicts and commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase by Thomas Jefferson from Napoleon Bonaparte; 1,000,000 square miles for $15,000,000. Designed by George T. Morgan and struck in the U.S. Mint Exhibit at the Exposition. Microscopic M on Jefferson’s bust truncation for Morgan. Gilt varieties are the same as gold-plated.
