SOLD: HK-306 1904 Louisiana Purchase Octagonal Souvenir Coin SCD

This example is noticeably different than the typical gold-plated type as it has the look of a bronze medal. It probably was originally very lightly plated. #28675 in the exergue on the reverse. The official octagonal “Souvenir Coin of Admission” from the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition held in St. Louis, Missouri. Crowned bust of Louis IX on the obverse, similar to the design on the Isabella Quarter. Both the obverse and the reverse state this is a “Souvenir Coin”.
