This is an original box for the Silver Utah Exhibit So-Called Dollar from the 1909 AYPE. The interior of the box is virtually perfect and original with purple silk lining and gold lettering. The lettering states “COMPLIMENTS / UTAH COMMISSION / ALASKAN-YUKON-PACIFIC EXPOSITION / SEATTLE 1909”. The clasp works perfectly. The outside of the box has some scuffs, but it is a solid box. I was told by a coin dealer in Utah that on the inside of the box, below the purple lining on the lid is a number, supposedly 1-46, the number of states there were in the union at that time, apparently one for each state governor. This box in number “1”. Pretty cool. This is the box only, there is no silver medal included. These medals were struck by the state of Utah and were sold in the Utah Building at the 1909 Alaska-Yukon-Pacific-Exposition held in Seattle Washington. The obverse has an intricate detail design with “Utah Exhibit” in the center and “Alaska-Yukon-Pacific-Exposition 1909” along the perimeter. The reverse features the State Seal of Utah.
