This example looks like a bronzed medal, similar in appearance to those made in the 1880’s through the early 1900’s. Engraved by George Morgan, the official medals were struck in the U.S. Mint exhibit at the exposition. A full figure female is holding a wreath over the Ohio Valley with a steamboat on the Ohio River behind her. The copper and bronze varieties have been combined as their compositions varied daily and their colors range from red to brown to amber indicating a higher level of zinc, some are probably closer to brass.
