Two miners with a pick and shovel are gold-panning next to a stream on the obverse. An Indian is hiding behind a tree to the right of the two miners and there are mountains in the distance. The Montana State seal is on the reverse with a view of the mountains and mining tools in the foreground. ORO-Y-PLATA on ribbon below translates to Gold and Silver, the state motto. The reverse is signed “The Greenduck Co. Chicago”. Struck in copper with a reeded edge.
