Sculptor, Robert Aitken, design the official medal and Medallic Art Co. prepared the dies. Silver and gold-plated medals were struck by the Philadelphia Mint while the four different bronze medals were struck at the exposition by the U.S. Mint and sold by the exposition Department of Official Coins and Medals run by Farren Zerbe. The major grading firms occasionally mistaken the bright bronze medals as gold-plated, this is an actual gold-plated variety.
