This has been graded by PCGS, but the finest graded by NGC is 65, and only six have been certified by NGC. This medal was issued by Thomas L Elder, a coin dealer in New York City, to commemorate the visit to the United States of officials of our allies. This meeting occurred in 1917 prior to the U.S. entering into WWI. The obverse die was the creation of Professor Montroville Dickeson, publisher of the American Numismatic Manual of 1859. Elder reused Dickeson’s die for the obverse and created a new reverse die. Struck in Gold-Plated, also cataloged as Brass.
