The medals were sold to raise funds for Colorado’s participation in the Century of Progress Exposition to be held in Chicago in 1933. Four types were struck. This medal is Type IV, the only design struck from engraved dies. Obverse depicts a detailed mining scene. Reverse depicts the Colorado’s State Seal. Struck in one ounce fine SILVER.
