Near TOP POP, only five graded finer. There are seven varieties of the 1940 Petroleum Dollar. SH 23-12.1 is designated on the slab, but it is the SH 23-12-1 variety. This is the “pointed star, no touching” obverse with the “IT” centered on the reverse. On the obverse is a large oil well centered. The reverse has text explaining the values of petroleum products.
