Near TOP POP, only 5 certified finer by NGC. There are seven varieties of the 1940 Petroleum Dollar. SH 23-12.1 is designated on the slab, but it is the SH 23-12.4 variety. This is the “rounded star, no touching” obverse with the “IT left” reverse. On the obverse is a large oil well centered. The reverse has text explaining the values of petroleum products.
