TOP POP. The 1958 Minnesota Statehood Centennial So-Called Dollar was struck in Gilt Bronze, which is Gold-Plated Bronze. A few aluminum examples are also known. The uniface pieces were initially struck as trial pieces, or as concept pieces to encourage the issuance of other medals which would use this design on the reverse, several others were issued for the Statehood Centennial Celebration.
