Struck in bronze to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the termination of the Pony Express. The Obverse features a telegraph key, telegraph wire and a dismounted horse symbolizing the end of the Pony Express. On the reverse is a horse and a dismounted rider. A National Commemorative medal authorized by Congress and struck by the U.S. Mint. Reverse is counter stamped with “SMALL FOREST” along the body of the horse.
