The official souvenir medal was copyrighted in 1961 by the New York World’s Fair Corporation. Medallic Art Co., of NYC had the official license to strike and sell these medals. Designed by John Peterkin, sculpted by Anthony de Francisci. The New York City Seal is on the reverse, dual dated below 1664-1964. Gold medals were presented to President John F. Kennedy, and His Holiness Pope John XXIII, by Chairman Thomas J. Deegan, Jr. The silver are edge marked with copyright information.
