The exposition and official medal were designed to promote the “enormous value of Alaska” and the “greatness” of Seattle’s sea port. U.S. Mint die engraver, George T. Morgan, designed the official medal based on Adelaide Hanscomb’s official logo for the exposition and the Seattle City seal. The medals were struck at the exposition by the U.S. Mint and sold through Joseph Mayer & Brothers of Seattle.
