Neptune moves a lever with his right arm, which causes water to gush out of a vase or pipe held in his left arm. In July of 1858 public water was first introduced to Brooklyn, New York, and celebrated in April of 1859, at which time this medal was struck. Engraved by F.B. Smith & Hartmann.
